Save Peter V Brett from our questions!

Peter V Brett is coming in to the Voyager evil HQ tomorrow to have lunch with our Cabin Crew, the group of dedicated sf/f fans that wander around the building searching for the next 11-book series. We’ve prepared some questions for Peter, author of The Painted Man and The Desert Spear, and if you have any to add, just post them below and we’ll ask:

  1. Is it necessary to be bearded if you are a male fantasy author?
  2. What are your plans once the Demon Cycle series is finished?
  3. How do you draw a line between your public profile and your private one when you share with fans?
  4. What did you have for breakfast today?
  5. Did you know that there are dropbears in Australia?

SAVE PETER FROM THESE QUESTIONS. GIVE US SOME BETTER ONES!

  1. I have so many questions that I didn’t get to ask in person (in my flu phased brain state).

How do you brainstorm your works–all at once? as you go? chop and change?

How do you cope with the intensity of some scenes/aspects of the story? Do you stay detached or to you have a way of ‘debriefing’. Meditation? Exercise? Talk therapy?

What’s your favourite desert (and do you have the recipe?)

  2. Hi
I enjoyed Peter’s reading of his new book(‘The Great Bazaar’?)later in the Con program and one aspect of story -the setting of a remote demon-infested ruined village in a desert area – had me wondering:

    - what sort of fieldwork-type research do you do for collecting the raw informtaion/experience to do the descriptions
    – and related question: how do you decide when you’ve reached an “any more research and it’ll either just be a delaying tactic or what I find out could even get in the way of imagining the setting/s needed?”?

    cheers,Tim/farnwyn

  3. 1.Is it necessary to be bearded if you are a male fantasy author?

redundant question.. it’s clearly yes as evidenced by this post: http://www.sffnews.com/2010/08/best-fantasy-authors-have-beards.html

  4. To all of you, we have video responses from Peter! Coming very soon!
